TL DR: try DOOM 2016 and/or Eternal, those do in fact have a double jump! I for one don't really like Uncharted-style games, but I get why they're good at what they do, they're just not for me □ So yeah, I'm not sure if that can help, maybe FPS games are just not your cup of tea □ Again.Īnd again these last few years a lot of indies started pumping out retro-inspired FPS games following the release of DOOM 2016, and now mobility and fast paced action are coming back to FPS games, after 10+ years of cowering behind cover waiting for the strawberry jam to slowly drip away from the borders of the screen. That said, I get the mobility angle because I didn't really fall in love with FPS games until I started playing so-called "boomer shooters" and wondering to myself why they don't make them anymore. I also really like 3D platformers and curse the day the industry collectively decided to move past them, but hey we're seeing some kind of resurgence these laste few years, so fingers crossed for the future. Thu 1st Jul ahahahah that's quite a peculiar stance, but I guess I get where you're coming from ahahahah □.If you want advice for your entry FPS, by all means tell me and I'd be glad to help you find it you're super welcome mate!Įvery person I manage to "convert" to DOOM is a win in my book □īy all means, let me know if you enjoy it! So my advice would be to find the FPS that looks the most interesting to you, try it out and then see if it's worth it to you if it is, you'll no doubt adapt to the dual stick control scheme. I didn't expect it but I was thoroughly hooked, and now FPS games are among my absolute favorites even though I cannot use KB+M lol I kinda did the opposite to you, in the sense that growing up on Nintendo consoles I didn't really try them out and thought they were stupid, then I started branching out a bit on my PS3 and the first games I tried were the three Bioshock games (which I'm replaying at the moment on Switch, coincidentally boy do I love this series lol), which drew me in thanks to their settings compared to the more boring COD etc. Thu 1st Jul I don't know man, KB+M might actually be part of the reason!.I know that I've spent months playing only that, and it was amazing.Īlso, there's an awesome community online and a load of Doomtubers explaining techs, strategies etc, so check them out if you're curious! If you take some time to understand the game and get better, you'll get there and have a freaking awesome time in the process. I mean I'm not a super hardcore gamer, I'm usually not really good at games, but even I managed to overcome a lot of levels on Nightmare, some Master Levels and even the DLC. ![]() The gyro certainly helps with smaller adjustments, but I gotta say that even without it, the game is doable. So, I'm a huge DOOM fan and I've watched almost all the streams the director (Hugo Martin, one of the most precious being on this planet) did of the game, and he is adamant that the game was always meant to be beaten with a standard controller, which is why he plays on Nightmare on a standard XBox controller with the X-axis inverted.Īs for me, I got a PC a year and a half ago so I'm new to PC gaming in any case, I've never used M+KB and can't learn it for the life of me, so I'm the one peasant who plays FPS games on PC with a gyro-enabled controller lol □ Thu 1st Jul that's actually a great talking point!.
